Shoes, Socks & Stockings

Compression Stockings

Many factors contribute to leg health, including age, weight, and activity level. Circulation from your legs is largely controlled by muscle contractions from your calf muscles which pump the blood forward, and a series of one way valves that prevent the blood from flowing backwards. As we age, this process loses some efficiency and can lead to poor circulation. This can result in some of the following symptoms:

  • Aching legs
  • Swollen legs and/or ankles
  • Cramping of the legs
  • Varicose or spider veins

Compression stockings help circulation in your legs by preventing blood from flowing backwards. Worn daily, they can help alleviate swelling and soreness associated with poor circulation.

Sand Run Pharmacy carries Juzo brand compression stockings. Available in a variety of colors and materials, these stockings provide support while still looking fashionable. To ensure proper fit, a few measurements are needed at the pharmacy. The staff at Sand Run Pharmacy are all trained to take such measurements. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at (330) 864-2138.

 Socks

Sand Run Pharmacy carries an assortment of specialty socks, including Juzo silver sole stocks. These stockings contain antibacterial silver fibers in their material to reduce odor. Designed for people with sensitive feet, these socks provide excellent comfort for all day use. Seams are minimized to prevent abrasions.

Also available are MediPeds diabetic socks. These socks are constructed with minimal seams and a non-binding top to prevent abrasions. Both brands of socks are a great choice for patients with diabetes, where proper foot health is important.

Shoes

Diabetic shoes are specially designed to prevent abrasions or skin breakdown that can cause infections and further problems in patients with diabetes. A proper fit is needed, and Sand Run Pharmacy has a certified pedorthist on staff to take required measurements. A number of colors and styles are available. Patients on Medicare part B may be entitled to a pair with no or minimal copay.
