Increasing EpiPen® Prices

Allergic reactions account for about 200,000 emergency room visits each year in the U.S.  When someone has a severe allergic reaction, they must inject themselves with epinephrine to prevent anaphylactic shock.  The most common way that patients do this is by using an EpiPen®.  Prices of the EpiPen® have recently increased from $97 in 2007 to over $600 for a pack of two.  There are other options available to keep your out-of-pocket costs low.  A manufacturer’s coupon is available for the EpiPen® that can save you up to $300 per 2-Pak®, or you can talk to your doctor about generic options.
